How long have you been playing rugby?
I’m about to start my 3rd year of rugby this coming fall. I started (playing) when I transferred into UConn, at the start of my junior year, fall semester.

How many years have you been on the team?
This is my 3rd year with this squad, and I’ve also played for the men’s team out of Hartford, the Wanderers.

What is your favorite part about playing for UCRFC?
Definitely the guys, I’ve played sports my entire life and I’ve never met a better group of guys that are as close-knit and fun to be around. It’s a brotherhood like no other.

What is your favorite memory of playing for UCRFC?
Probably our run through the Beast of the East tournament last spring (2015), we beat a lot of teams that nobody thought we could beat in hard-fought, physical games. We really peaked at the right time and everything was just clicking for us. It was definitely the most physically demanding weekend I’ve had but also the most enjoyable by far while we just felt unstoppable.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about playing rugby/ what advice would you give them?
Just come out and get involved, (Matt) Cozzi has said it a ton, but you only get out what you put in. I didn’t know a whole lot of people coming into UConn, especially as a transfer, but the team really just welcomed me in immediately and I couldn’t be happier. As far as the actual sport goes, if you put in the work, you’ll see results fast, and never be afraid to ask questions to the guys around you. Everyone starts somewhere so just keep pushing yourself until you get to where you want to be.
