How long have you been playing rugby?
This is my 5th year playing rugby.
How many years have you been on UConn Men’s Rugby?
This is my fourth year.
What is your favorite part about playing for UCRFC?
It would have to be the team chemistry we have on and off the field. It’s really hard to not call someone your brother when you’re sweating and bleeding with them.
What is your favorite memory of playing for UCRFC?
The B side game at WestConn. That was the best game I’ve ever played along with some other people. I played 8 and Bauer was scrummy and the whole team just clicked. Assisting on a try in the closing minutes to close out the game was a great feeling. Our B side team came together and beat their A side players and that’s something to be proud of. It was also the first and last time I think I got to see Ryan Meegan play. I honestly didn’t think he was all that good until he burned their whole team up the sideline to score a 60 meter try. I had no idea that kid had jets. Rest in peace buddy.
What would you say to someone who is thinking about playing rugby/ what advice would you give them?
Yeah rugby’s the fastest growing sport and yeah it’ll make you fit and a better person but overall? Rugby is fun. I look forward to practice because I love how fun the game is. You’ll make lifelong friends and you’ll learn to push yourself to new limits you didn’t even know were there.
