Last Saturday UConn won its season opener 30-20 against a much improved Albany team. The win was UConn’s 4th consecutive victory against UAlbany, the teams longest active winning streak against an East Coast Rugby Conference opponent. This is also the first time that the seniors on this team have started conference play 1-0.
UConn came out firing on Saturday taking an early 10-0 lead against Albany thanks to a kick by Auggie Coll and a try by Joe Phillips (Conversion made by Coll). However Albany rolled with the punches and took a 14-13 lead into the half. The Huskies managed to get rolling again in the second half thanks to solid defensive play, a long kick by Coll, and two second half tries by Sophomore Wing Pierre Aguirre (Both Converisons Made by Coll). UConn will look to move to 2-0 on the year Saturday afternoon against Boston College.
