Weekend Recap: 10/5/19

Saturday UConn suffered a close loss to the University of Rhode Island Rams by a score of 22-17. The score remained close for most of the game, but midway through the second half URI was able to pull ahead by 12 points. A try around  and conversion the 72nd minute pulled  Huskies within 5 points and ignited hope of a comeback. UConn possessed the ball around their own 22 meter line the ball as the clock ran out in the second half.  An inspired series of phases led the Huskies down the pitch, highlighted by captain Alex Nanai narrowly avoiding getting tackled into touch, and eventually the team got the ball to the five meter line of the Rams. Unfortunately the Huskies were unable to find the try zone in this final push.
The B-side squad came in and fought hard to win their match 19-12 with many rookies continuing to prove themselves and develop their rugby skills.
