UConn 7 – Boston College 28
UCONN travelled to Boston College with undefeated 4-0 record for non-conference match-up. BC playing as an independent this season was able to secure BC football stadium for their home match, quite cool. Unfortunately game results for 1st Side not as cool as BC scores 3 unanswered 2nd half tries to win 7-28. Half time saw a 7-7 tie but UCONN struggled to maintain quality possession as BC forward running game kept us working defensively. “Our timing and cohesive was missing from opening whistle and we struggled throughout the match to get untracked. Credit to BC for shutting down our running game and maintaining good ball possession at sideline fringes allowing ball to be recycle to hard running forwards,” Coach Merola commented.
“Too many mistakes and turnovers to keep us competitive but we learned valuable lesson…come ready to play especially at D1 level”…
In contrast the 2nd Side kept their unbeaten streak alive at 5-0 winning comfortably 27-5 and will be going for unofficial B side Division championship with remaining games against URI and Northeastern. Xavier Amos led 2nd team with 2 tries and displayed great hustle. Everyone was in tune and was enjoyable to watch. Congrats to all.
UCONN remains at 3-0 in Liberty Conference play and will face URI (10/28)and Northeastern (11/4) in final 2 divisional games. New England Divisional Championship hopes remain high but now is not time to sit back and relax.
